Neurotransmitter Testing: The Chemistry Behind How You Feel.

Mood, focus, sleep and stress resilience all run on chemical messengers. When they drift out of balance, symptoms follow — but guesswork rarely fixes them. Measurement does.

Collected at home, analysed by our laboratory partner ZRT, and reviewed with a Dripdok physician who turns the numbers into a targeted plan.

What the panel measures

Rather than looking at a single messenger in isolation, the ZRT panel measures a broad set of neurotransmitters alongside their downstream metabolites. Reading parent compounds together with what they break down into reveals the pattern — whether a system is under- or over-active — so treatment targets the real cause instead of the surface symptom.

Excitatory

Glutamate, dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine — the drivers of focus, motivation and the stress response.

Inhibitory & Calming

GABA, serotonin, glycine and taurine — the brakes that govern calm, mood and sleep.

Metabolites

Breakdown markers such as 5-HIAA, HVA and VMA that show how each system is actually being used.

Balance is the whole point

Neither side is “good” or “bad” — wellbeing lives in the balance between them. Too much on the excitatory side can read as anxiety, racing thoughts or poor sleep; too much on the calming side can read as low drive, fatigue or flat mood. Seeing where you actually sit is what makes a plan precise.

Why it matters

Imbalances in these messengers are commonly linked with low mood, anxiety, poor sleep, brain fog and burnout. Because hormones and neurotransmitters influence one another, testing them in context gives a clinician a far clearer starting point than symptom questionnaires alone.

Captured across your whole day

Neurotransmitter levels naturally rise and fall through the day. A single snapshot can mislead — so ZRT’s dried-urine method collects small samples at four points, capturing your natural daily rhythm rather than one isolated moment.

Collection Rhythm

1

Waking

Sets your morning baseline as the day begins.

2

Midday

Captures drive and focus at peak demand.

3

Evening

Shows the wind-down toward calm.

4

Bedtime

Reflects readiness for restorative sleep.

How collection works

Step 01

Collect at home

Small samples on a filter strip at four points across the day. No clinic visit, no needles.

Step 02

Mail it back

The dried strips are shelf-stable and simply posted to ZRT Laboratory for analysis.

Step 03

Reviewed one-to-one

A Dripdok physician walks you through the results and builds a targeted plan.
